Each week, on Wednesday, I send an email. Usually it’s about my Mindfulness practice, or Self-Compassion practice… This week was a little different, I kind of rambled a bit wider on towards some other aspects of wellbeing.

So one of those was looking at nutrition, and specifically sugar. It’s the first time that I’ve ever tried to cut sugar out of my diet. And it’s not like I normally eat tonnes of sugar…But I got rid of sugar and processed foods and made sure I was eating a really healthy diet, a Mediterranean diet.

And… it feels good. The most surprising part is that I’m noticing a bit more clarity in my thinking. Especially in the afternoon.

Usually I do more creative work in the morning, and then I wouldn’t be able to so that kind of work in the afternoon, I’d feel more tired. But, for the last few weeks, I’ve been noticing that I can work more evenly throughout the day.

It’s been really interesting and might be worth looking at, playing at removing some sugar. At least it has been for me.

The other thing is just that feeling of wanting to be outside. There’s less light here at the moment, it’s getting dark earlier in the evenings. So I’m just trying to get out a few times during the day, and most evenings I’ll get out for a walk. This evening I’m coaching athletics, so I’ll be out for an hour and a half or so.

Just having that time outside. Which here means putting on your rain gear! But it’s still really worth it.
